High-Performance Roller Chains for Industrial Drives

High-performance roller chains guarantee maximum load capacity and high wear resistance. They are specially designed for demanding industrial applications and offer reliable power transmission under high loads.

TSUBAKI High-Performance Roller Chains for Industrial Drives

TSUBAKI high-performance roller chains provide reliable power transmission for machinery, conveyor systems and demanding industrial drives. The MOVET range includes European BS/DIN roller chains, American ANSI chains and reinforced heavy-duty versions for different loads, speeds and installation conditions.

Available products include complete roller chains as well as compatible connecting links and offset links. Different pitches and simplex, duplex, triplex or quadruplex designs allow the chain to be matched to the required transmission capacity and existing drive system.

GT4 Winner, ANSI G8, HT or Super Roller Chain?

The appropriate TSUBAKI chain series depends on the dimensional standard and the mechanical demands of the application. The following overview provides initial guidance:

Chain series Typical selection criterion
GT4 Winner European premium roller chain with BS/DIN dimensions according to DIN 8187
ANSI G8 Standard American-series roller chain with dimensions according to DIN 8188
HT Series Reinforced ANSI chain for increased tensile strength and demanding low-speed drives
Super Series Heavy-duty chain for increased strength where transmission capacity or installation space is critical

The series cannot be selected solely by pitch. Dimensions, permissible load, fatigue strength, operating speed and sprocket compatibility must be checked against the technical data of the individual chain.

Roller Chains to DIN 8187 and DIN 8188

High-performance roller chains are available in both European and American dimensional series. DIN 8187 covers BS-type roller chains commonly identified by designations such as 08 B, 10 B or 16 B. DIN 8188 covers ANSI-type chains with designations such as 40, 60, 80 or 100.

Chains from the two standards can have a similar nominal pitch while differing in roller diameter, inner width and overall dimensions. Before replacing an installed chain, compare the complete chain designation and the dimensions of the existing sprockets rather than relying on pitch alone.

Selecting Pitch and Number of Chain Strands

Chain pitch, roller diameter and inner width must match the installed sprockets. The MOVET range includes pitches from compact industrial chain sizes through to large heavy-duty roller chains for high-load drives.

Simplex chains are suitable for many standard power-transmission applications. Duplex, triplex and quadruplex chains use multiple parallel strands where increased transmission capacity is required. Overall chain width, shaft load and the design of the multi-strand sprockets must also be considered.

Heavy-Duty Roller Chains for High Loads and Shock Loading

Heavy-duty roller chains should be considered when a standard drive chain does not provide sufficient permissible load, tensile strength or resistance to repeated shock loading. Typical applications include lifting equipment, processing machinery, heavy conveyors and compact drives with limited installation space.

TSUBAKI HT and Super chains use reinforced components to increase performance compared with the corresponding standard ANSI chain. These series are particularly suited to demanding drives operating at relatively low chain speeds. The actual permissible operating load must always be determined from the product-specific selection data.

Wear, Lubrication and Roller Chain Service Life

High-performance construction does not remove the need for correct lubrication. Lubricant must reach the contact area between the pin and bush, where articulation of the chain produces wear. Lubrication intervals and lubricant type depend on speed, load, temperature and environmental conditions.

Chain alignment, tension and contamination also influence service life. Excessive tension, misaligned sprockets or insufficient lubrication can cause premature wear even when a reinforced roller chain is installed. Applications that cannot be regularly lubricated should use a specifically designed maintenance-free chain rather than a conventional high-performance chain.

Connecting Links and Sprockets for High-Performance Chains

Connecting links and offset links must belong to the same chain size, standard, number of strands and product series as the roller chain. A standard connecting link should not automatically be used with a reinforced HT or Super chain, as the link can otherwise become the weakest component of the drive.

The sprockets must also match the chain dimensions and expected load. Existing sprockets should be inspected for tooth wear before fitting a new chain. Depending on the heavy-duty series, chain size and number of teeth, hardened sprocket teeth or product-specific sprockets may be required.

Select and Buy High-Performance Roller Chains

Use the product filters to narrow down the range by DIN standard, chain designation, pitch and number of strands. Before ordering, compare the pitch, roller diameter, inner width and total chain width with the existing drive and sprockets.

MOVET supplies TSUBAKI roller chains, compatible connecting links and offset links for European and American drive systems. If the required chain series or size is not available directly in the online shop, MOVET can assist with selecting a suitable high-performance or heavy-duty drive chain.
