Cabinet keys are used to operate profile-specific quarter-turn latches on control cabinets, machine enclosures, access panels and industrial equipment. The matching key engages with the insert of the latch and enables the enclosure to be opened and closed in a controlled manner.

Selecting the Correct Insert Profile and Spanner Width

Triangular and Double-Bit Cabinet Keys
Type A cabinet keys feature a triangular profile for compatible quarter-turn latches. They are often referred to as triangular cabinet keys or triangle keys and must be matched to the dimensions of the installed triangular insert.
Type B uses a double-bit profile and is intended for corresponding double-bit latches. Triangular and double-bit keys are not interchangeable. Before ordering, check the insert shape, spanner width and type designation of the existing latch.
Type D and Type E Hygienic Latch Keys
Type D and Type E keys are designed for different latch inserts and spanner widths. Type D has a spanner width of 10 mm, while Type E is designed for a 13 mm insert. Despite their similar purpose, the two keys must be assigned to the correct latch type.
These versions are available for corresponding hygienic quarter-turn latch systems and combine a blue plastic handle with stainless steel functional components. When selecting a replacement key, compare the complete type designation rather than relying on the external appearance alone.
Keys for 90-Degree Quarter-Turn Latches
The cabinet keys are intended for compatible quarter-turn latches operated through a 90-degree rotation. Turning the key moves the cam or locking element behind the enclosure panel between its open and closed positions.
The operating angle alone does not determine compatibility. The insert profile, dimensions and latch type must also correspond to the selected key. Matching quarter-turn latches are available in different profiles, closing depths and sealing designs.
