Sprag-based freewheel (TFS)

The TFS series comprises sprag-based freewheel clutches without their own bearings, which are designed for an interference fit of the outer ring. They have two vertical fitting grooves at both ends of the outer ring. The external dimensions correspond to those of the 63 series ball bearings.

MOVET TFS Cam Clutch: Precision, Performance and Compact Design for Industrial Applications

The TFS series cam clutches are high-quality, non-bearing type one-way clutches based on roller cam technology, specifically designed for compact, precise drive solutions. They are intended for a press fit of the outer ring and feature two vertical keyways on both ends of the outer ring. Thanks to their design, the external dimensions match those of Series 63 ball bearings, allowing easy integration into existing housings originally designed for ball bearings.

Compact, Non-Bearing Design

TFS cam clutches are bearing-free, meaning they can be installed directly into housings or machine components where the bearing arrangement is provided separately. This offers maximum flexibility in design and enables space-saving, compact drive solutions.

Accurate Fit and Easy Integration

The bore of the TFS cam clutch is manufactured to H7 tolerance, ensuring a precise connection to the shaft. In combination with the press-fit outer ring and the vertical keyways for secure location, the cam clutch can be reliably integrated into a wide variety of machine designs.

Broad Application Range

MOVET TFS cam clutches are available in various sizes and torque capacities – from 1 Nm to 150 Nm. Whether used in packaging machinery, conveyor systems, assembly automation or special-purpose machines, these cam clutches provide consistent, precise performance. Typical applications include:

  • Overrunning clutch – disengages the drive at overspeed

  • Backstop – prevents reverse rotation of shafts

  • Indexing clutch – transmits torque in one direction only

Technical Specifications at a Glance

  • Design: Non-bearing type cam clutch

  • Bore diameter: e.g. 15 mm H7 for TFS 15

  • Outer diameter: e.g. 42 mm for TFS 15

  • Width: e.g. 18 mm for TFS 15

  • Torque range: 1–150 Nm depending on size

  • Inner keyway: e.g. 5 x 1.2 mm

  • Outer vertical keyway: for positive locking in housing

  • Dimensions: compatible with Series 63 ball bearings

Example: TFS 15 from TSUBAKI

A typical product in this series is the TSUBAKI TFS 15 cam clutch, featuring a 15 mm bore, 42 mm outer diameter and a torque capacity of 28 Nm. Its robust construction ensures long service life and precise torque transmission, even in demanding industrial environments.

Easy Integration into Existing Systems

Because the external dimensions of the TFS series match those of Series 63 ball bearings, they can be used as a direct drop-in replacement in existing bearing seats. This simplifies machine upgrades or replacement of existing components without significant design modifications.

Advantages of MOVET TFS Cam Clutches

  • Non-bearing type for compact design flexibility

  • Series 63 bearing dimensions for easy retrofit

  • High torque capacity in a compact size
