Which Hygienic Spindle Suits the Construction?

A larger thread does not automatically provide the correct load capacity for every application. Thread engagement, spindle extension, material of the mating component, side loads and the design of the attached castor or support plate must also be evaluated.
Height-Adjustable Spindles for Precise Machine Positioning
The installation height is adjusted by screwing the stainless steel spindle into or out of the corresponding threaded support. This allows a machine, work table, frame or castor assembly to be aligned to the required operating height or ground clearance.
The 150 mm castor spindles provide an adjustment range of 85 to 130 mm. The 200 mm versions cover an adjustment range of 110 to 180 mm. The actual usable range also depends on the mating structure and the minimum thread engagement required for a stable connection.
The spindle must not be extended beyond the permitted adjustment range. Insufficient thread engagement can reduce stability and increase the bending load acting on the threaded spindle.
Hygienic Spindles for Swivel Castors
TEKNOCLEAN wheel spindles combine a height-adjustable stainless steel thread with a compatible castor or support plate. They can be used to make machines, work tables and mobile frames both movable and adjustable in hygiene-sensitive production environments.
Depending on the machine design, the spindle can be selected with an M12 × 37 mm male pin or an M12 × 15 mm female thread. The connection type must match the mounting point on the castor or adjoining component.

USDA-Certified Stainless Steel Spindles

A blue silicone gasket seals the transition between the threaded spindle and guide sleeve. The contrasting colour makes damage, contamination or a missing sealing element easier to identify during visual inspection.
Certification of the spindle alone does not confirm that the complete machine is hygienically designed. The castor, mounting plate, threaded connection, fasteners and surrounding components must also be suitable for the intended cleaning procedure.
Installing and Cleaning Hygienic Threaded Spindles
Before installation, the threads should be clean, undamaged and free from foreign material. The spindle must engage sufficiently deeply in the mating thread and should be loaded as axially as possible.
Permanent side loads, misalignment or insufficient thread support can place additional stress on the spindle and adjoining component. Mobile equipment must also be assessed for castor load, travelling forces, braking forces, impacts and uneven floor conditions.
During cleaning, inspect the threaded area, guide sleeve, silicone gasket and castor connection. A damaged or permanently deformed gasket should be replaced. Material suitability should be reassessed whenever the cleaning chemical, concentration or operating temperature changes.
