What are bearing units?

Bearing units are compact units consisting of bearing and housing for supporting and guiding rotating shafts. Bearing units consisting of housing and bearing are perfectly matched, which avoids expensive adjustment work and time-consuming assembly. In addition, the full function of the bearings is guaranteed at all times. Bearing units consisting of housing and bearing from MOVET are designed for use in automated conveyor systems. Depending on customer requirements, the bearing units are equipped with plain bearings or rolling bearings and are available as radial bearings as well as axial bearings. What are bearing units - we will be happy to answer this question in a personal meeting! Why not give us a call right now!

Plain bearings or rolling bearings? These properties make the difference

Plain bearings are characterized by a sliding movement between the bearing and the mounted part. Rolling bearings, on the other hand, each have an outer and inner ring with a hardened rolling element between them. The rolling elements allow rolling friction. Plain bearings have large load-bearing and lubricating surfaces, which provides good damping characteristics. Plain bearings are also insensitive to shock and vibration and remain operational even when contaminated. Rolling bearings, on the other hand, require little maintenance and care in daily use and can be used without a start-up period. However, rolling bearings are sensitive to shock and vibration, especially when stationary. Of course, we will advise you on the selection of the right bearing individually and depending on your application.

Fixed and floating bearing

Bearing units that support a shaft must always tolerate a certain amount of heat generation or be designed in such a way that they take into account the linear expansion always associated with heat generation. To prevent the bearings from sticking to the shaft or overloading the rolling elements, one bearing point on the shaft is designed as a locating bearing, the other point as a non-locating bearing. In a locating bearing, both the inner and outer rings of the bearing are axially fixed. In the case of a non-locating bearing, we recommend axial location of the outer ring, while the inner ring has no axial location on the shaft. In this way, compensation for the small movements caused by heat generation can be achieved. The often extremely sensitive bearing seats of the machine housing are thus protected and the fit of bearing/shaft can be matched more easily. Simply give us a call if you would like advice on choosing the optimum combination of locating and non-locating bearings and the choice of surfaces required for your project.

What do the load designations on rolling bearings mean?

In rolling bearings, a distinction is made between dynamic and static loads. Dynamic loads in relation to rolling bearings are also referred to as circumferential loads. The circumferential load occurs when the ring of the rolling bearing rotates relative to the load direction. The ring can rotate (when the load is stationary) or the load rotates (when the ring is stationary). One speaks of a point load when a static load is present. This occurs when the ring is stationary relative to the load direction. This can be the case either when the ring is stationary and the load is stationary at the same time, or when the ring and load rotate at the same speed. Would you like to know more about this topic?
